On this day in 1980, Ronald Belford 'Bon' Scott, the 33-year-old front-man of the Australian rock group AC/DC was found dead in the back of a car in East Dulwich in London after spending the previous night drinking heavily with friends. On this day in 1959, the American rock 'n' roll singers Buddy Holly, Jiles P. Richardson (aka 'The Big Bopper') and Ritchie Valens died after the plane on which they were passengers crashed in a snowstorm shortly after taking off from Clear Lake, Iowa.

They may be dead, but their music lives on.
